An increased demand for high quality operator training can be observed among operating companies since operator interactions in all kinds of process plants can be identified as an important factor for performance. Therefore, recent developments in the field of dynamic training simulator systems are used to ensure the best possible training for operating personnel in process plants. This paper describes a development of a framework for dynamic simulations to be used within realistic training environments. As a case example, an Outotec waste-to-energy training simulator is presented. The functionality of the training environment is demonstrated in a plant load change scenario and in a shutdown procedure while evaluating the calculating performance of the simulation. Further use cases of the dynamic simulation are presented.
