Joint Forces of AAS and OPC UA
Industrial Automation has to provide new functionalities which support more flexibility and new applications. Prerequisite is a well defined and interoperable vertical communication infrastructure. AAS and OPC UA provide both related information models and interfaces. One of the main challenges is the support of these technologies for the entire life cycle of products as well as the automation and production systems. This paper reports from the joint IDTA and OPC Foundation working group which works on engineering and operation support offering the suitable features of both technologies.
