Gas quality definitions differing within Europe and the foreseeable trends in the gas market exert a pressure to harmonize gas quality standards in the EU, in many countries exceeding the range admissible up to now. To ensure proper operation of all types of the domestic appliances existing in the market the effect of changing gas quality on these devices needs to be investigated. Therefore the GASQUAL project was initiated. The result can be summarized as follows. Most of the appliances tested in this project are able to cope with a certain range of gas qualities, especially if they are not adjusted outside the mean gas quality and if there is no gas pressure variation.
