Because of the expanding demand for energy, time and cost savings, and in terms of environmentally conscious manufacturing processes, SDF® (Simultaneous Dual Frequency) induction heating process for close contour hardening of ring gears and pinions is presented. With this low-distortion hardening process, subsequent hard machining steps such as straightening, grinding or lapping can be reduced or completely eliminated.
