Oxyfuel solutions deliver a unique combination of advantages in reheat and annealing. Thanks to improved thermal efficiency (about 80% compared with 40-60% for air-fuel), the heating rate and productivity are increased and less fuel is required to heat the product to the desired temperature, at the same time saving on CO2 and NOX emissions. This article discusses the results from 120 furnace installations, employing conventional oxyfuel, direct flame impingement oxyfuel, and flameless oxyfuel.
