Burner engineering components subject to severe exposure to heat, such as the combustion chamber, are increasingly being produced from SiC ceramics. A mathematical model of flow and heat-transfer conditions has been created in order to optimize combustion-chamber design for the use of these materials. This article examines high velocity burners and reports on their use for heating of process-optimized tempering furnaces.
